Editorial Independence Statement
Journal of Machine Intelligence for Sustainable Industry Practices (JMISIP) is committed to full editorial independence in every publishing decision it makes. This statement sets out the principles that govern how that independence is protected and exercised.
Core Principle
Editorial decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, rejection, revision, or retraction are based solely on the scholarly merit of the work, its relevance to the journal's Aims and Scope, its methodological soundness, and the outcome of the peer review process. No other consideration is permitted to influence these decisions.
Separation of Editorial and Business/Financial Functions
- Decisions about which manuscripts to publish are made independently of any commercial, advertising, sponsorship, or Article Processing Charge (APC) considerations. A manuscript's acceptance is never contingent on, nor influenced by, an author's ability or willingness to pay the APC — fee waiver applicants receive identical editorial treatment to fee-paying authors.
- The journal does not accept advertising, sponsorship, or financial arrangements that could reasonably be perceived as influencing editorial content or decisions.
- Where the journal currently has no external sponsors (self-funded operation), this will be clearly and honestly disclosed; should sponsorship arrangements be established in future, they will be publicly disclosed on this page, along with an explanation of the firewall maintained between funding and editorial decision-making.
Editor-in-Chief Authority
The Editor-in-Chief holds final responsibility and authority for all editorial decisions, exercised independently of the journal's ownership, publisher, or any external party. The Editor-in-Chief cannot be directed to accept, reject, or expedite any manuscript by owners, publishers, sponsors, or any other stakeholder.
Conflicts of Interest
- Editors, associate editors, and reviewers are required to declare any financial, institutional, personal, or professional conflicts of interest relevant to a manuscript under their consideration.
- Where a conflict of interest exists (e.g., the editor is a co-author, close collaborator, or direct competitor of the submitting authors, or shares an institutional affiliation), that individual must recuse themselves from handling the manuscript, and an alternative editor will be assigned.
- Members of the editorial board are not given preferential treatment for their own submissions; board-authored manuscripts are handled by an editor without a conflict of interest, following the same double-blind review process as all other submissions.
Protection from External Pressure
The editorial team will not be pressured by authors, institutions, sponsors, or any external party to accept, reject, expedite, or alter the outcome of a manuscript's review. Any attempt to exert improper influence over an editorial decision will be documented and may result in that manuscript's rejection and, where relevant, disclosure to the author's institution.
