Why Digital Preservation Matters
Academic journals — particularly newly established ones — carry a responsibility to ensure published research remains permanently accessible even if the journal ceases publication, changes publishers, or experiences technical failure.
Current Archiving Measures
PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): As an OJS-hosted journal, JMISIP utilizes (or intends to enable) the PKP Preservation Network, a free, decentralized preservation service built for OJS journals. PKP PN automatically harvests and preserves each published issue across a distributed network of preservation nodes.
Planned Future Archiving
JMISIP intends to pursue additional archiving partnerships, including LOCKSS and CLOCKSS.
Author Self-Archiving as a Complementary Safeguard
Authors may self-archive their work in institutional or subject repositories at any time, with no embargo, providing an additional author-controlled layer of long-term accessibility.
Website and Data Backup
The journal's hosting infrastructure maintains regular backups of the full OJS database and file system.
